Case-based approach
The Jing Fang Lecture Series, as well as covering the foundational theory of Classical Herbalism, reflects a case-based approach to the study of Chinese herbal medicine.
All the audio lectures are richly illustrated with case histories from Dr Feng Shilun in Beijing, and from our SCCH clinic, which help to bring the theory to life, and underline the clinical effectiveness of Jing Fang herbal medicine.
Clinical Sessions
Herbalists who are new to Jing Fang also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge by attending our regular clinical sessions. During these sessions, students are able to observe an experienced Jing Fang herbalist in practice, discuss the cases, and understand how Classical formulas are used and modified to treat the complexities of real-life patients.
The sessions are split into two parts. Firstly, the clinic session itself, where patients discuss their symptoms, and the Jing Fang herbalist will prescribe herbs. There are often short breaks between patients for questions and further explainations. After the patients have been seen, some time is set aside for deeper discussion of the cases, specific questions that have arisen, and detailed explaination of the diagnosis and prescription etc. Often there will be time for participants to bring their own cases for discussion with the supervisor.
We run regular sessions online, as well as yearly ‘in-person’ clinics at the Complementary Health Centre in Cholsey, Oxfordshire.
Thus students are exposed from the start to the way the Jing Fang Six Syndrome Differentiation System works in practice, and you can see from the start how this extraordinary medicine can improve your clinical results.
