As we go through the accreditation process for UK Chinese medicine trainings with the EHTPA (European Herbal and Traditional Practitioners Association) we have created the support of a fantastic group of governors.
Berny Sebe lives in Oxford and is one of our long-term patients. He swears by Jing Fang, which helped him back to health in 2015, and he still uses it to help him keep himself well. Berny is a lecturer at Birmingham University and very helpful to us on the academic front as he understands deeply what we are trying to do. It is great to welcome Berny as a lay member.
Alexander Evans lives near Reading, and was one of the first students to study Jing Fang in the UK, travelling to China with us in 2016 to study with Dr Feng Shi-Lun. Alex teaches tui na at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, and is also an acupuncturist and herbalist. He has a business background and is wonderful with publicity suggestions – not only suggestions though, Alex is very supportive of our new approach to teaching Chinese herbal medicine and has recommended many students to us.
Mark Preston lives in Cholsey and is a huge supporter of the School of Classical Chinese Herbalism and the Jing Fang Apprenticeship, in many ways. He is an acupuncturist and tai ji instructor and supports the principles and vision of the school. Mark also helps out practically at the Jing Fang Apprenticeship by overseeing the dispensing and distribution of herbal formulas, and by helping with procurement and set-up for the school.
And of course, last but not least is me, Frances Turner, founder member of CCHC (Cholsey Complementary Health Centre) and the founder and director of SCCH (School of Classical Chinese Herbalism), which runs the JFA (Jing Fang Apprenticeship). To set up the Jing Fang Apprenticeship, I put together my previous experience of directing herbal medicine courses, with my experience of working in the clinic of Dr Feng Shi-Lun and learning Jing Fang Classical Herbalism [see ‘Sometimes magical things happen in life’]. In 2015 I invited Dr Feng Shi-Lun to officially open the JFA, and have been developing the training ever since. As you know, we are now working towards the accreditation of SCCH, and are training new teachers to expand the staff presence.
